Co-working In Serbia

Belgrade is not the only place where you can find co-working places in Serbia. Almost every major city has its spaces and some small towns or even villages are adopting this new pattern for digital nomads and modern ways of work with technology.

NOVI SAD

Travelling up North, one hour away from Belgrade you will reach Novi Sad. The second largest Serbian city famous for it’s Austro-Hungarian architectural history, calm lifestyle, strong cultural heritage, coffee hedonism and famous summer festival Exit.

Its tech industry is as big as Belgrades, although its four times smaller in size than the Serbian capital. Co-working in Novi Sad is becoming the new trend and slowly the city is seeing how new spots are being born right in the center mixing the old ex-Yugoslavian buildings with bold designs and infrastructures.

STARTIT CENTAR NOVI SAD

Officially opened in November 2016, just a year after its older brother in Belgrade, the new Startit Centar in Novi Sad is even more charming than the one in the capital. It features more than 1.300 m2  divided into three levels and surrounded by a big garden that will definitely be very popular in the summer time.

It has 20 seats in the ground floor for coworkers and two meeting rooms, a great conference room in the basement for 200 people, coffee shop and 8 office spaces in the top floor. Fully equipped kitchen with hanging out space and all surrounded by plenty of windows all the way through.

A program with different tech and startup related events, workshops and meetups is being put in place for the first quarter of the year and will cover a variety of topics. The majority of the events will be open to everybody.

In this place you will find the 1st computer museum in Serbia and first non-smoking pub in Novi Sad. The pub will offer many types of beers and coffees.

Startit Centar is located in the city center, less than a 10 minute walk from Liberty square, the main touristic attraction in the city.

POSLOVNI INKUBATOR

As it name stands, this is an Incubator for entrepreneurial businesses who are looking for an accelerator. With 800m2 facilities in the center of Novi Sad, the space has 25 different offices, a conference room, 2 meeting rooms, 2 fully equipped kitchens and leisure area. The team is involved in several projects of communication, information, new technologies and also creative industries. If you want some mentorship and advice for your new ideas, don’t miss this place.

NIŠ

When you travel South in Serbia you will reach Niš, the third largest city in the country and one of the oldest cities in the Balkans. Niš is always being considered a gateway between the East and West of Europe and was ruled by the Ottoman Empire for centuries. The city inherited many aspects of this ancient culture and today is very well-known among the Serbs for having the best roasts in the region.

Apart than history, it also has a strong electronic industry and the newest co-working spaces are taking advantage of it.

DELI

Located in the city center and very close to the river, Deli is a new incubator where creative professionals work, share knowledge and meet up. Great renovated office with mentors that will help young business in its early steps, they also travel around the Balkans to attend other creative events and they will give you access to their network.

Team from Deli is renting the space to the best applicants within creative industries, but everybody is welcomed to their multiple events throughout the year.  

TILDA

Right in the city center as well, Tilda offers a co-working space with very affordable prices per month. The space has a projector, conference room, printer, own locker as well as fully equipped kitchen.

Run by freelance programmers, this is a tech co-working space very popular. You will have your own desk but there is also other free spaces around the site that you can use. For new members, the first week is free of charge so make sure you book it soon!

SOMBOR

In the very top western corner in northern Serbia, you can find the town of Sombor. Also known for its Austro-Hungarian heritage and a mix of people that came from all the surrounding countries, being Hungarians the biggest population after the Serbs.

This small location with a truly picturesque architecture and folk vibe just opened this January 2017 the first co-working space in town, Fabrika.

FABRIKA

Fabrika is a new initiative created by a great group of young professionals with ambition and optimism to wake up the local community through workshops, lectures and exciting events. They are also a social accelerator looking forward to work with young local entrepreneurs through their projects and co-working space ready to welcome digital nomads.

The prices to rent a desk and also to live in town are very affordable and the team has prepared a great guide explaining how life in Sombor would be for an expat. Definitely worth the visit!

MOKRIN

Moving now to the opposite top Eastern corner and bordering with Romania, Mokrin is the biggest village from the Kikinda province. This intimate location was the chosen place that a young, ambitious and full of energy professional team selected to build a rural oasis for freelancers, digital nomads and entrepreneurs.

MOKRIN HOUSE

The difference between Mokrin House and other co-working spaces is that you can also co-live here. Remarkable, elegant and with a homely design, you will absolutely fall in love with this place. You can work in peace, recharge batteries with the movie nights and go for amazing walks by the surroundings. No wonder why Mokrin House won the best 2016 co-working space in Serbia awarded by the Central European Startup Awards.
